Scott Sicko Interview
Tight End – New Hampshire

By: Alex Khvatov

3/10/10

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Scott Sicko:  Right now I am 6’4”, 252 pounds and I don’t know what my exact forty time is because my Pro Day is tomorrow.

Alex Khvatov:  How are you preparing for the upcoming NFL Draft?

Scott Sicko:  I have been working out in New Hampshire.  I have been working out four days a week to be in the best shape possible.

Alex Khvatov:  What are you going through right now knowing that the Pro Day is tomorrow?

Scott Sicko:  I have butterflies in my stomach just like before a game.  I am really excited for it.  I want to see how it goes.  I am hoping for good weather and I will give it my best shot.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Scott Sicko:  Most of the CAA and Ivy League schools.

Alex Khvatov:  What made you choose New Hampshire?

Scott Sicko:  Well, it was one of those schools that I always liked.  I really liked the atmosphere.  It was a great location.  When I started to get recruited by the school, I liked the coaching staff and the whole program.  It was a family atmosphere.

Alex Khvatov:  How would you rate your senior season?

Scott Sicko:  It is tough to rate your play.  I never get into it.  I will let other people rate my play.  I had a lot of fun my senior season.  I was very privileged to be a part of this team.  I will never forget it.  I worked hard.  We were able to accomplish our goals as a team that we set out for ourselves in the beginning of the season.

Alex Khvatov:  What will you miss the most about New Hampshire?

Scott Sicko:  The teammates and coaches.  These kids became my friends and family.  It is really something special here.  It is a very special atmosphere at this school.  We really care about one another on and off-the-field.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your football career up to this point?

Scott Sicko:  Probably getting offered a full scholarship by the University of New Hampshire after my junior season of high school.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths on the football field?

Scott Sicko:  I think that my biggest strength is my pass catching.  You never get satisfied with it though.  You always try to get better.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game do you still need to improve upon?

Scott Sicko:  Blocking and getting stronger.  We were running a spread offense at New Hampshire, so I was more of a receiving tight end.  I needed to get bigger and improve my strength.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Scott Sicko:  My dad liked the Raiders, but I just love to watch the game.  I think that there are a lot of special teams in the NFL.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Scott Sicko:  I root for A.J. Hawk.  He is a good player, but he is also very involved off-the-field.  I like guys that can find time for their community and give back.  Stuff like that is really special.  People should focus on that more and be a good role model for kids.

Alex Khvatov:  Which underclassman on your team should we keep an eye on in the future?

Scott Sicko:  I think that there are multiple guys who have a shot.  But defensive end Brian McNally is really impressive.  I have never seen that type of work ethic from anyone.  Two seasons ago, he was a Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about playing football?

Scott Sicko:  The team atmosphere.  Football is something that is very special.  Teammates work together in order to accomplish the same thing.  Everyone works in the same direction.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you plan to do with your life after you are done with football?

Scott Sicko:  I want to be a history teacher or a New York state trooper.  I have always admired teachers.  They are able to shape kids’ lives.  I think that they always get overlooked.  Police officers also directly help people.

Alex Khvatov:  Is the NFL a dream or a reality at this point?

Scott Sicko:  Honestly, college football is a dream to me.  I had to pinch myself every time when I was reminded that I had a full scholarship here at New Hampshire.  I never actually thought that I would get a shot at the next level.  It is something that I really aspire to do.  It is right there for me.  It is something very special.  It is still a dream that I am working towards.  It will be amazing if it actually does happen.

Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Scott Sicko is....

Scott Sicko:  I hope people would say that I am a caring and respectful person.  Football has taught me a lot about respect.  I am also a hard working individual.
