Alex Khvatov: What
are your measurements (height, weight, forty time and bench
press)?
Patrick Lee:
I am six feet even and 200 pounds. I ran a 4.41 and did
the 225 pound bench press 15 times.
Alex Khvatov: Why
did you choose Auburn when you were coming out of high school?
Patrick Lee:
It was a good place. I wanted to get out of Florida. It
was a new atmosphere.
Alex Khvatov:
Describe your overall experience at the Senior Bowl.
Patrick Lee:
It was good. I worked hard. I showed what I can do. I
never played off before. I showed them that I can play off
during the week.
Alex Khvatov: Did
you get a chance to bond with any of the players there?
Patrick Lee:
I bonded with a lot of people there. Everyone was cool.
Everyone was funny. It was fun.
Alex Khvatov: Tell
me about your overall experience at the Scouting Combine.
Patrick Lee:
Combine was a crazy deal. It was a lot of running
around. It was a good experience. I dealt with it.
Alex Khvatov: What
was the most unique question that you had to answer during the
interview process?
Patrick Lee:
The one question that they asked me was why I started
only one full year. Basically when I first got there in 2005 I
started five games. Then I developed tendonitis in my knee.
Someone jumped in and they took my place. I rotated after
that. Then I got my chance last year when David Irons left.
Alex Khvatov: How
would you grade your Pro Day and were you disappointed with your
forty time?
Patrick Lee:
Yeah, I was disappointed with my 40 time. But I improved
in other areas. I improved my vertical jump.
Alex Khvatov: What
are your strengths on the football field?
Patrick Lee:
My size, speed and my press coverage ability. I make
plays.
Alex Khvatov: What
areas of your game do you need to improve upon?
Patrick Lee:
When I am in good position, I need to find the ball. I
need to locate the ball better.
Alex Khvatov: You
finally got your chance to be the starting corner for the entire
season, were you happy with your overall play during your senior
campaign?
Patrick Lee:
I worked hard. It turned out good for me.
Alex Khvatov: Who
is the toughest receiver that you have faced over your college
career?
Patrick Lee:
I would say Percy Harvin. He is a fast guy and he has
good hands. I am not even sure that he is a receiver. He
played running back too. He does it all.
Alex Khvatov: How
were you able to shutdown Vanderbilt’s talented wide receiver
Earl Bennett last season when your team played them?
Patrick Lee:
We took it to him. We distracted him. We put our hands
on him and we got to their quarterback. The quarterback wasn’t
able to look his way. We got our hands on him.
Alex Khvatov: What
is the highlight of your football career up to this point?
Patrick Lee:
You know one play stands out. When I hit the fullback
from Georgia last year and took him out of the game. He was
talking a lot. The play before, he told me that I am not a hard
hitter. On the next play, I got a hit on him and he went out of
the game. I am sure that he will remember the hit for a long
time.
Alex Khvatov: What
is your favorite NFL team?
Patrick Lee:
I used to like the Colts. I still like the Colts. I
liked the Colts ever since they got Edgerrin James. I like the
way they run the offense.
Alex Khvatov: Who
is your favorite player?
Patrick Lee:
My favorite player was Deion Sanders. He was a
playmaker. Something exciting is going to happen when he makes
a play.
Alex Khvatov:
Which underclassman on your team should we keep an eye on in the
future?
Patrick Lee:
Jerraud Powers made a lot of plays last year. He is a
big playmaker for a small guy.
Alex Khvatov: What
do you enjoy most about football?
Patrick Lee:
It is my dream. Everything. Just going to the games,
have fans cheering for you and making plays.
Alex Khvatov: Do
you think that you are one of the most underrated corners in
this draft class?
Patrick Lee:
Yes, I think that. We play in the strongest division.
We face the best receivers in the SEC. Corners that are listed
ahead of me don’t go against these top guys. I am underrated.
Alex Khvatov:
Where do you think that you will be drafted?
Patrick Lee:
It doesn’t matter where I get drafted. I want to play.
I want to come in, settle in and do my job.
Alex Khvatov: What
is the one thing in your daily life that you can’t live without?
Patrick Lee:
My mom. I talk to my mom all the time.
Alex Khvatov: Tell
me something about yourself that makes you unique.
Patrick Lee:
I am a positive person. I have fun and I am always
laughing.
Alex Khvatov: What
are your hobbies away from the football field?
Patrick Lee:
I play video games and I mentor little kids. Jammon is
an eleven year old kid that I play video games with. It is kind
of like a big brother thing. I try to show him the right
things. I want to be someone that is supportive of him. I had
some time to get into this mentorship program because I
graduated early in May of 2006 with a criminology degree.
Alex Khvatov: What
would you like to do with your life after football?
Patrick Lee:
I want to get into the US Marshall Field because it is
better than the FBI. Real estate is a possibility because my
mom does that.
Alex Khvatov:
Finish the sentence, Patrick Lee is…..
Patrick Lee:
Patrick Lee is a hard worker and a fighter. I never give up. I
do my best and I try to make plays all the time.
