4-3 DEFENSIVE TACKLE
1. KEVIN WILLIAMS, MINNESOTA VIKINGS
-Without a doubt, the premier DT in the NFL. Quick, strong and explosive, he is the complete package.
2. PAT WILLIAMS, MINNESOTA VIKINGS
-Still one of the hardest men to move at 39 years old. He is the primary reason the Vikes have finished in the top 2 vs. the rush for 4 straight years.
3. TOMMIE HARRIS, CHICAGO BEARS
-Not the dominating force he once was, due to knee injuries, but he can still play at a high level. If he’s healthy in 2010, he could return to form.
4. TONY BROWN, TENNESSEE TITANS
-Solid, underrated player. A rock vs. the run and relentless when rushing the passer. Just beginning to receive his just due.
5. BRODERICK BUNKLEY, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
-Strong and athletic. He can get up field and play gap control effectively. A bit inconsistent and under performs at timer.
6. JOHN HENDERSON, OAKLAND RAIDERS
-Still a beast when healthy. Back injuries have taken away some of his special qualities, not allowing him to maintain leverage.
7. JONATHAN BABINEAUX, ATLANTA FALCONS
-Ultra quick penetrator. He is one of the hardest working DT’s in the game. A bit undersized and gets pushed around at times.
8. CHRIS CANTY, NEW YORK GIANTS
-Was injured for much of 2009. When healthy, he can be dominant. Long arms and strong hands.
9. CORNELIUS GRIFFIN, FREE AGENT
-Not as quick as he once was, but can still get the job done. Some team is going to get a veteran leader.
10. BARRY COFIELD, NEW YORK GIANTS
-Big, no frills type defender. Doesn’t stand out in any one area, but is solid all-around.
11. SEDRICK ELLIS, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS
-Stout vs. the run. Not as much of a penetrator as many thought he’d be when drafted. Has the ability to play at a much higher level.
12. MIKE PATTERSON, PHILADELPHIA EAGLES
-Steady, consistent player. Very solid vs. the run, can improve as a pass rusher. A bit undersized.
13. ERIC FOSTER, INDIANAPOLIS COLTS
-Not the biggest guy, but quite consistent. Terrific hand usage. Gets pushed around too much.
14. DOMATA PEKO, CINCINATI BENGALS
-One of the better run stuffers in the NFL. Has to keep his weight under control. Offers little to nothing on pass rush.
15. AMOBI OKOYE, HOUSTON TEXANS
-Athletic and quick. Stays dinged up. Inconsistency has not allowed him steady progress.
16. TANK JOHNSON, CINCINNATI BENGALS
-Steady veteran. Not a big playmaker, but solid vs. the run and pass. Past off field problems.
17. JIMMY KENNEDY, MINNESOTA VIKINGS
-Has resurrected his career in Minnesota. Big, straight line athlete. Strong, but up and down effort.
18. FRED ROBBINS, ST. LOUIS RAMS
-Big run stuffer who can push the pocket on pass rush. Will never be a standout. Lunchpail type of guy.
19. TANK TYLER, CAROLINA PANTHERS
-Big, strong run stuffer. At times, plays smaller than his size indicates. Highly inconsistent motor.
20. BRANDON MEBANE, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
-Solid in all areas, not a standout in any area. If he can stay healthy, he has a chance to become an upper echelon DT.
ROOKIES (WITH THE CHANCE TO CRACK TOP 32)
1. NDAMUKONG SUH, DETROIT LIONS
-Best player in the 2010 draft. Big, agile and technically sound. Will start from day one.
2. GERALD MCCOY, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
-Quick and strong. A bit of a bull in a china shop at times. Violent with his hands. Center piece of rebuilding defense.
3. TYSON ALUALU, JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
-Quick and sudden. Will surprise a lot of people who were shocked by his draft selection.
4. BRIAN PRICE, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
-Quick off the snap. Very good hand usage for an underclassman. Gets overweight and sluggish at times.
