Alex Khvatov:
Tell us about your experience at the 2013 Shrine
Game.
Micah Hyde:
It has been a fun experience so far. There are
a lot of people watching and seeing how you are
performing. They are watching your every single
step. I am just trying to make the best of it.
The most important thing is to have fun and not
be nervous. It is important to be loose. We
are all out here for a reason. We are all good
players here. I am just trying to make the best
of it.
Alex Khvatov:
What has been the most memorable moment for you
in St. Petersburg, Florida?
Micah Hyde:
I think just meeting new guys. You play against
them in college. Now you get the chance to put
the name with the face. We all have the same
goal in mind. We all want to make it to the
NFL.
Alex Khvatov:
Which wide receivers from the West squad have
stood out the most in practice?
Micah Hyde:
To be honest, all of them have gotten me at
least on one occasion. My teammate Keenan Davis
has stood out. The guy from Middle Tennessee
State (Anthony Amos) and the guy from
Mississippi State (Chad Bumphis) have been
good. They are all good receivers.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your strengths on the football field?
Micah Hyde:
I think that I am versatile. I play smart. I
hardly give up the big play. I try to keep
everything in front. I can play different
positions. I love to play special teams. It is
a huge thing for me. At Iowa, you get your
start on special teams and then you get the
chance to make your mark on defense.
Alex Khvatov:
What is the feedback that you have received from
scouts this week?
Micah Hyde:
Scouts asked me what I like better corner or
safety. I played a little safety my junior year
at Iowa. I was starting to get used to it. But
it was better for the team for me to go back to
corner. I have been playing corner for awhile
now. I am used to it and comfortable there.
Alex Khvatov:
What areas of your game have you been trying to
improve upon this week?
Micah Hyde:
Learning the scheme. It is a pretty simple
defense. I have been competing against the
receivers and hustling to the ball.
Alex Khvatov:
Describe your senior season.
Micah Hyde:
We definitely knew that we were young coming
into the season. There wasn’t a lot of
experience on the team. We started off pretty
well. We were like 4-2, but we lost the last
six games. It is disappointing especially since
it is your senior season. You want to win every
game possible. It is tough, but you learn from
it. But the young guys are hungrier going into
next year. They will be working hard.
Alex Khvatov:
Where are you training for the NFL Draft?
Micah Hyde:
I will be going back to school. I need to
finish up school.
Alex Khvatov:
What is your major?
Micah Hyde:
Recreational sports business.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your plans after your career is over?
Micah Hyde:
I want to manage a professional team. Or maybe
run a youth center like YMCA.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your hobbies?
Micah Hyde:
I am a competitive guy. I like to be outside.
I was never the video game guy. I like to watch
movies. I am a movie guy. I don’t like to
read.
Alex Khvatov:
What is your favorite movie?
Micah Hyde:
Shawshank Redemption.
Alex Khvatov:
Finish the sentence, Micah Hyde is….
Micah Hyde:
I am a loose guy. I get along with everybody.
I try to get along with everyone. It is the
type of personality that I have. I try to learn
something from everybody. I am always nice to
people.
