Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Marion Grice:  We haven’t run the forty here at Arizona State.  But I think that I got faster while being here.  I ran a 4.5 flat at a junior college.  I am 6’0 and 206 pounds right now.

Alex Khvatov:  When you were coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Marion Grice:  I had one offer from Utah State.  They wanted me to play safety.  I got my test scores out of high school at the last minute.  A lot of junior colleges came in and were looking at me as an inside LB.  Blinn Community College came in and offered me to play RB.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you wind up at a junior college?

Marion Grice:  My grades didn’t meet the criteria.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you decide to transfer to Arizona State?

Marion Grice:  It was a nice environment.  It was a good academic program.  They are a PAC- 12 program.  They had a new coaching staff, and I was excited about it.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe your junior season at ASU.

Marion Grice:  Overall, it was a shocking experience.  I wasn’t expecting to lead the team in touchdowns.  I thought that I would come in and learn the plays.  I thought that I would play a little bit.  I went to camp and I bonded with the players.  It was great.  I learned my plays and I started playing more.  I was featured as a third down back.  I improved my game.  I did well my junior season.

Alex Khvatov:  Do you enjoy playing in the PAC-12 conference?

Marion Grice:  I wish that we can play everyone in the PAC-12.  When I first came in, I thought that we would face every team.  We get to play Stanford this year, and I am excited about it.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?

Marion Grice:  I am a balanced back.  I can protect, but I am getting better at it.  I can catch and run.  I can do anything.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game do you need to improve upon?

Marion Grice:  Pass pro.  I want to be a complete back.  You have to be able to protect the QB.  I have to become more polished.  I have become a better blocker.

Alex Khvatov:  What have you learned about your team after the spring?

Marion Grice:  We bonded more as a team this year.  We have become a close family.  We are much closer than last year.  We will become more of a family this summer.  We will have more time to bond.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your team and individual goals for this upcoming senior season?

Marion Grice:  Win the Conference Championship.

Alex Khvatov:  Tell me about your teammate RB D.J. Foster.

Marion Grice:  He is a great guy.  I can learn things from him.  He is a hard worker.  We are all hard workers.  I will have another year to play with him.  He will become the featured back after I leave.  He is also a great athlete.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Marion Grice:  I don’t have one.  I root for the Houston Texans since they are a hometown team.  But I mostly just like to watch the game and players.

Alex Khvatov:  Who are some of your favorite NFL players?

Marion Grice:  I like watching AP (Adrian Peterson), J.J. Watt, Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.  I also like to watch (Peyton) Manning play.  I wish that I had the opportunity to play with him.  It would be great to catch a pass from him.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most important trait that a RB should have?

Marion Grice:  You have to be able to pass protect.  Everyone runs the ball, but you have to be able to protect the QB.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about college football?

Marion Grice:  I like the game itself.  It is a different atmosphere.  You get to travel and see new faces.  You get to see the great fans.

Alex Khvatov:  Which players on your team are ready for a breakout season?

Marion Grice:  Rick Smith (receiver) is getting better.  He has impressed me.  I know that I am looking forward to seeing Steffon Martin play LB.  I am also excited to play behind our offensive line.

Alex Khvatov:  What has your head coach Todd Graham brought to this program?

Marion Grice:  In my eyes, he brought toughness and maturity.  He brought a physical nature to this team.  He brought a family atmosphere.  We have all come together.  We play as one.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your definition of a leader?

Marion Grice:  It is a person that leads by example.  You do less talking and show more by your actions on and off-the-field.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you plan to do with your life after your football career is over?

Marion Grice:  My main thing is graduating first.  After I graduate, I can take my degree and get a job.  I am a sociology and communications major.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Marion Grice:  I like to be with my family.  I am always polishing up my game.  I get together with our strength and conditioning coach.  I also play video games.

Alex Khvatov:  What makes you a unique individual?

Marion Grice:  I have a nice personality.  I am a great person.  People can sit down and talk to me.  They will eventually like me.

Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Marion Grice is….

Marion Grice:  I am a positive person.  I try to be a leader on and off-the-field.  I am honest and caring.  On the field, I am talking to everyone.  I joke a lot.  I have opened up more and I talk to more guys.
