Alex Khvatov:
What are your measurements (height,
weight and forty time)?
Kerwynn
Williams:
I haven’t run the 40 time in awhile.
Last time I had a 4.34. I am 5’8 and I
weigh 192.
Alex Khvatov:
What made you
choose Utah State coming out of high
school?
Kerwynn
Williams:
The main thing was Coach A (Gary
Andersen). He told me that he had a
program which he was trying to rebuild.
He wanted me to be a part of it. I
wasn’t highly recruited coming out of
high school. I was excited to come out
here and help him out in this rebuilding
process.
Alex Khvatov:
Tell us about your career at Utah
State.
Kerwynn
Williams:
I feel like it has definitely been a
learning experience to say the least. I
have learned a lot by being here. I
have learned a lot by being around
players like Robert Turbin and Michael
Smith. I had good coaches. They have
done a great job coaching me. They have
been given me opportunities to go out
there and perform week in and week out.
I am definitely thankful for this
opportunity to have a career here.
Alex Khvatov:
Describe your senior season from a team
and individual standpoint.
Kerwynn
Williams:
It has been a very memorable one. It
has been the most memorable one since I
have been here. We had the winningest
senior class to date. We are WAC
champions. The individual stats would
come if the team is playing well. I am
just excited to be a part of it.
Alex Khvatov:
You are going to play against Toledo in
a bowl game, are you excited about it?
Kerwynn
Williams:
Yeah, definitely. Any time you can play
in a postseason, you are definitely
excited about it. They are a good
team. They are one of the top teams in
the MAC conference. They are a very
good defensive squad. They put together
a great effort. Their middle linebacker
is really good. He makes a lot of
tackles. We have to match their
effort. It is not going to be an easy
game. We just have to go out and play
hard. We are looking forward to playing
against them.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your strengths on the football
field?
Kerwynn
Williams:
I have good vision for a running back.
I am active on the offensive side of the
ball and give great effort on every
play. I feel that I catch the ball well
out of the backfield.
Alex Khvatov:
What areas of your game do you need to
improve upon?
Kerwynn
Williams:
The biggest thing would have to be
blocking. You can never be too good at
blocking.
Alex Khvatov:
What is the highlight of your football
career up to this point?
Kerwynn
Williams:
For me, the highlight would have to be
the Louisiana Tech game. We beat them.
We had the overtime series. It was
pretty big to beat them and become WAC
champions.
Alex Khvatov:
What inspires you
to play football?
Kerwynn
Williams:
There is no better team sport. Everyone
is relying on each other to get their
job done. Everyone is dependent on
you. That drives me because my
teammates are depending on me.
Alex Khvatov:
What does it take to be a leader?
Kerwynn
Williams:
I feel like a leader has to have that
killer instinct. When it comes time to
step up, he is the one that takes that
step to put the team forward and give
the team an advantage. I feel like a
leader has to be consistent with his
effort and his knowledge of the game.
You can’t let down for one second. I
feel like a leader has to want the ball
in his hands on the last play or the
last drive. It is the biggest thing.
Alex Khvatov:
What is your favorite NFL team?
Kerwynn
Williams:
Growing up, it was the Vikings. Now I
like watching my teammates play. I like
watching Seattle and the Buccaneers
too.
Alex Khvatov:
Who is your favorite NFL player?
Kerwynn
Williams:
Barry Sanders is my all-time favorite
player. He was very versatile running
the ball. He saw holes that nobody else
would see. Right now, I like the way
Adrian Peterson runs the ball. He is a
physical runner. He is looking to score
a touchdown and looking to run someone
over. I try to model my game after
him.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your hobbies?
Kerwynn
Williams:
Off the field, I like watching movies.
James Bond is my favorite movie.
Alex Khvatov:
Who is your
favorite James Bond actor?
Kerwynn
Williams:
It has to be Sean Connery. He is the
best James Bond to date. Daniel Craig
and Pierce Brosnan did a good job. But
I have to say Sean Connery.
Alex Khvatov:
What is your favorite James Bond movie?
Kerwynn
Williams:
Never Say Never Again.
Alex Khvatov:
Kerwynn, what five words best describe
you?
Kerwynn
Williams:
Intelligent, confident, honest, diligent
and hard-working. |
