Alex Khvatov:  How did your first day of practice go at the East/West Shrine Game?  How would you grade your overall performance?
Jeff Mathews:  I think that it went well.  It is a first day for everybody out here.  You just have to get into a rhythm early.  You have to make sure that you are making all of the throws and the right reads.
Alex Khvatov:  What are the goals that you have set for yourself this week?
Jeff Mathews:  When you come from a small school like me, you just want to prove that you can play with these guys.  I think that my skill set translates to the league.
Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths on the football field?
Jeff Mathews:  Ultimately, my strength is preparing for each practice and each game.  My passion for the game is what drives me.  I have a pretty decent arm.  I can throw it with the best of them.  I also pride myself on being an accurate passer.
Alex Khvatov:  You had a disappointing senior campaign, what was the reason behind it?
Jeff Mathews:  We didn’t execute at the level that we wanted to.  We didn’t win as many games as we wanted to.  But it is a new time right now.  I want to prove myself at a different level here.
Alex Khvatov:  What are you trying to improve upon this week?
Jeff Mathews:  As a quarterback, you need to have great footwork.  It is something that I will work on continuously.  That is something I will try to prove this week.
Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Jeff Mathews is….
Jeff Mathews:  I guess that I am just a guy who is passionate.  I love this game.  I love preparing.  I love putting in the work in the film room.  I pride myself on working hard.  Everything else will just fall in line.
