Alex Khvatov:  Describe your East/West Shrine Game experience.
Erik Lora:  The first thing is just going to the hospital.  It was a blessing.  We hung out with the kids that are less fortunate than us.  It really puts everything into perspective.  We are lucky to be out here playing football.  A lot of the kids wish that they could do this.  There is also the best competition in the nation.  This is an all-star game.  We have players from the SEC, the Big- 10 and the Big-12.  The competition has been great.  The East team is doing pretty well.
Alex Khvatov:  What has been the highlight for you this week?
Erik Lora:  The hospital visit.  It was just an honor to be out there.  The kids were so happy.  It puts joy into your life.  It was great.
Alex Khvatov:  Which players have stood out to you during the East practice?
Erik Lora:  I know the North Carolina safety Tre Boston.  He is a really good player.  All of the receivers are doing pretty well.  Some of the quarterbacks have stood out.  My QB Jimmy (Garoppolo) has stood out.  Some plays go for the offense and some for the defense.  That is football.  You just move on to the next play.
Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths on the field?
Erik Lora:  I am a pretty intelligent route runner.  I see the holes in the defense.  I just get open.  I have pretty good hands.  I can play inside and outside.  I am pretty versatile.
Alex Khvatov:  What are you trying to prove to scouts this week?
Erik Lora:  I want to show that I can compete and play against better competition.  I am from the FCS school, so you don’t get as much respect with the numbers that you put up.
Alex Khvatov:  Tell me about your teammate QB Jimmy Garoppolo.
Erik Lora:  He is a great leader.  He has one of the quickest releases in the nation.  He has poise.  He throws darts at you.  He also has the touch for the deep ball.  He is a great player and captain.  He led Eastern Illinois to one of the best teams that the school has ever had.  There is nothing bad that I can say about him.
Alex Khvatov:  Describe your career at Eastern Illinois.
Erik Lora:  I got to play as a freshman.  The last two years of my career were outstanding.  I put up huge numbers.  I have had the ups and the downs.  I can’t complain.  I made the right choice.  I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Erik Lora is….
Erik Lora:  A good person and a great player.
