Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Dominique Johnson:  6’4”, 230lbs, 4.5 forty.

Alex Khvatov:  Coming out of high school, what programs showed interest in you?

Dominique Johnson:  Most of the Pac-10 and a few East Coast schools showed interest in me.  I committed my junior season, so many places turned their heads.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose UCLA?

Dominique Johnson:  I was impressed with coach Karl Dorrell’s teaching ability and also the players on the team.  I bonded well with the other players coming in the same year I did.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you decide to transfer to Cal Poly?

Dominique Johnson:  The coaching staff at Cal Poly impressed me, and I had some of the same feelings toward Poly that I had coming out of high school for UCLA.  I just felt like it would be a good fit for me coming to Cal Poly after leaving UCLA.

Alex Khvatov:  Describe to us your junior season at Cal Poly.

Dominique Johnson:  My junior season at Poly was one of the toughest for me personally because I separated my shoulder, tearing my labrum so early in the season. Outside of the injury, I really enjoyed going to battle with my teammates every week and it was a good experience for me.

Alex Khvatov:  Have you finally found a home with the Mustangs?

Dominique Johnson: Yes, I have.  We have a great coaching staff and a group of players in this program who all want to win.  The school aspect of it is great as well. Academically, it is a fine institution.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your expectations for this upcoming senior campaign?

Dominique Johnson:  I expect Cal Poly to be National contenders this season.  Personally, I expect myself to be a leader and work hard on and off the field.  I want to make the players around me better as well as myself.  I expect to be one of the most productive receivers in the nation.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your career up to this point?

Dominique Johnson:  The highlight of my career to this point would have to be Cal Poly vs. South Dakota when I had 13 catches, 273 yards and 5 touchdowns.  Closely behind that is my one-handed touchdown catch vs. USC when I was still at UCLA.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths on the football field?

Dominique Johnson:  I have great hands and smooth precise route running techniques.  I concentrate on the little things that make the biggest differences.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game do you need to improve upon?

Dominique Johnson:  I need to improve upon being quicker with my feet.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you bring to the table that other college receivers might not have?

Dominique Johnson:  I bring an attention to detail and I think it shows in my ability to separate from the DB.  I also have the ability to make big plays.  Combine that with my attention to details in my routes and separation techniques and you have me.

Alex Khvatov:  Which underclassmen on your team should we keep an eye on in the future?

Dominique Johnson:  Asa Jackson, Kenny Jackson, and Johnny Millard.

Alex Khvatov:  Which NFL player would you compare your game to?

Dominique Johnson:  Brandon Marshall because of his ability to make big plays in big situations and how one player can never bring him down.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Dominique Johnson:  Brandon Marshall is my favorite player.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Dominique Johnson:  I don’t really have a favorite team in the NFL.  I have a lot of players that I follow.  Other than that, I just enjoy watching football.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the one thing in your daily life that you can’t live without?

Dominique Johnson:  My cell phone simply because it’s how I connect with everyone and I can do almost anything on it.

Alex Khvatov:  If you could have dinner with anyone out there, who would it be and why?

Dominique Johnson:  Jerry Rice.  I believe that he is the NFL’s all–time greatest receiver and I would ask him about the things that contributed to his success on the field.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Dominique Johnson:  I play basketball a lot and I enjoy building computers in my spare time.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you want to do with your life after your football career is over?

Dominique Johnson:    I want to either become a teacher and a football coach or open some kind of youth center similar to the YMCA to give kids something to do, so they stay out of the streets.

Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Dominique Johnson is….

Dominique Johnson:  A great man.  He works hard on and off the field.  He is very accountable and he is the ideal type of person that you would want on your team.
