Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?
Damien Jacobs:  I am 6’3, 305 and I am not sure about my forty time.  I haven’t been timed officially yet.
Alex Khvatov:  Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Damien Jacobs:  I am training at Cooper Speed in Tampa, FL.
Alex Khvatov:  What do you plan to show scouts during your Pro Day?
Damien Jacobs:  I am planning on going over there and impressing them.  I am more athletic than they think I am.  I will post good numbers.  They want to see you move well, and I will showcase that in drills.  I am excited for that day.
Alex Khvatov:  What schools showed interest in you when you were coming out of high school?
Damien Jacobs:  When I was coming out of high school, I signed with Florida State.  I also had interest from Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Texas Tech.
Alex Khvatov:  How did you wind up at East Mississippi Community College?
Damien Jacobs:  I didn’t qualify academically, so I went to a junior college.
Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose the University of Florida when you were coming out of a junior college?
Damien Jacobs:  I liked the state of Florida.  The school was more real to me.  They were telling me the truth.  Florida seemed more genuine.  I also had a chance to compete for a National Championship.
Alex Khvatov:  Describe your career with the Gators.
Damien Jacobs:  Honestly, I would describe it as a little bit inconsistent.  Last year, I was just getting used to things.  This year, I was inconsistent.  I suffered an injury before the season for about 4-5 weeks.  I also had a concussion for two weeks during the season.  Conditioning was a problem for me.
Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths?
Damien Jacobs:  I am a good pass rusher.  I am strong and I have quick hands.  I also have quick feet.  I do a good job with mental preparation throughout the week.  My preparation definitely gives me an edge.
Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game do you need to improve upon?
Damien Jacobs:  I know for a fact that my worst play has to be good.  I need to build more consistency.  I will be in shape for my pro Day.  I will be fine.
Alex Khvatov:  What is the highlight of your football career up to this point?
Damien Jacobs:  The highlight of my total career was before Florida.  We won a National Championship in 2011 at East Mississippi CC.  I played with my boys. It was fun to win at a junior college.
Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?
Damien Jacobs:  The Saints.  I am a Louisiana native.  I had tickets to their home games.  Every Sunday, I would go tailgating with my pops.
Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?
Damien Jacobs:  I like Tom Brady.  He is my favorite player.  Patriots are my second favorite team.
Alex Khvatov:  What separates you from all of the other players at your position?
Damien Jacobs:  I think that for the most part you might get someone my size, but he won’t be as quick.  I have a good combination of size and quickness.  I have good strength.  That is what separates me from a lot of guys.
Alex Khvatov:  Who was the best player that you played with at Florida?
Damien Jacobs:  At East Mississippi, quarterback Bo Wallace was the best guy that I played with.  He is at Ole Miss right now.  At Florida, it was Matt Elam.  The things that he would do at the safety position were amazing.  He is definitely the best defensive player that I played with.
Alex Khvatov:  Which underclassmen on your team should we keep an eye on next season?
Damien Jacobs:  I have about three or four guys.  Dante Fowler would probably come out next year.  He should be a first rounder if he continues to do what he did before.  Jonathan Bullard might come out early as well, but I think that he should go back for his senior season.  D.J. Humphries has put on a lot of weight.  He has the potential to be a first or a second round pick as a LT.  Trent Brown should get drafted somewhere.  He has great size.  Antonio Morrison has the potential to come out if he keeps it up.
Alex Khvatov:  Who was the toughest opposing player that you went up against during your career?
Damien Jacobs:  I faced a right guard (Larry Warford) from Kentucky my junior year.  He was really good.  This past season, it was center Travis Swanson from Arkansas.  He was pretty good.  The boy from Florida State Bryan Stork was also a tough player.
Alex Khvatov:  What do you enjoy most about football?
Damien Jacobs:  I like the whole physical and mental aspects of it.  I have to hit someone.  I have to get that out of the way.  It is a chess match in the trenches.  It is a war between the O-line and D-line.  Someone has to win.
Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?
Damien Jacobs:  I spend a lot of time in the woods.  I like to go hunting and fishing.
Alex Khvatov:  What makes you a unique individual?
Damien Jacobs:  First of all, I have a big heart.  I care for other people.  I want to see the next man doing well.  A lot of guys don’t do that.  I am a good teammate.  I help the younger boys.  I was raised in a good family.  It helped me throughout life.  I am a good person.
Alex Khvatov:  What is your definition of a leader?
Damien Jacobs:  There are few definitions of a leader.  You can’t lead from the back.  A leader has to be in the front.  There are different types of leaders.  Some leaders are vocal, some are in the back of the line and some do it with actions.  You have some fake leaders.  I don’t give big speeches in front of the team.  I lead by my actions.  Jon Bostic was the best example of a leader.  He led by example on the field.
Alex Khvatov:  What do you plan to do with your life after your football career is over?
Damien Jacobs:  First of all, I want to pursue a job at my junior college.  East Mississippi CC has a DL coaching job ready for me.  I would probably take that route first.  Then I want to pursue a degree as a wildlife and fishing agent.
Alex Khvatov:  You are a small fish in a large pond, what does it feel like to be an under the radar type of guy?
Damien Jacobs:  I can relate to it going back to high school.  I was a three star recruit.  I started receiving attention from schools a couple of months before signing period.  I was a diamond in the rough type of player.  It takes commitment and patience.  I have to do the work.  I have to fight through all of it.  I am happy to be here.
Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Damien Jacobs is….
Damien Jacobs:  Very humble, very talented and an overall good guy.  I am a low risk, high reward player.
