Alex
Khvatov:
What are your measurements
(height, weight and forty time)?
Chas Alecxih:
Height is 6’4”, weight is around 295, arm length is
33 ½, my wingspan is 79 and the forty time at my Pro
Day was 5.51.
Alex
Khvatov:
Coming
out of high school, what programs showed interest in
you?
Chas Alecxih:
Not too many. I was very under recruited. Uconn,
Pitt and a lot of small schools told me they wanted
me. But they didn’t have a scholarship for me, so I
walked on at Pitt. I got a scholarship before my
sophomore season.
Alex
Khvatov: Tell
me about your experience at Pitt.
Chas Alecxih:
It is really a great area. We were pretty
successful when coach Wannstedt was there. We were
close to making the BCS bowl games.
Alex
Khvatov:
Describe your senior season to us.
Chas Alecxih:
They brought in a coach my senior year, and he told
you what you wanted to hear. My senior year was
really rough. They forced their system on us. Then
coach Graham takes off unexpectedly. Now they have
brought in a coach who is a straight shooter, which
is good for the program.
Alex
Khvatov:
What
was your Combine experience like?
Chas Alecxih:
I caught a
stomach flu at the Combine, but I still participated
in the drills. They even had to move my roommate to
another room because I was sick. I was disappointed
with my performance.
Alex
Khvatov:
Were you
satisfied with your performance at the Pro Day?
Chas Alecxih:
The Pro Day
was excellent. I felt that I improved in every
single category. I didn't do the bench press, but I
improved in all other phases like the vertical jump
and the broad jump
Alex Khvatov:
How have you been training for the NFL Draft?
Chas Alecxih:
For the
combine, I trained at Ignition with Cliff Marshall
in Naples, Florida. Then I came back home. Now I
am currently training at Pittsburgh and getting my
degree at the same time.
Alex Khvatov:
What
is the coolest thing that you have gotten to do
during this NFL draft process?
Chas Alecxih:
Getting to know guys from different schools. I
watched them play from afar, but now I get to talk
to them and get to see them up close.
Alex Khvatov:
What is the highlight of your football career up to
this point?
Chas Alecxih:
When we won a share of the Big East title and
they fired coach Wannstedt, everything was in
turmoil. Nobody wanted to play in the Bowl game.
Then we came together and beat Kentucky, 27-10.
Phil Bennett was the interim coach for that game
and he brought us together. I will never forget it.
Alex
Khvatov:
What
are your strengths on the football field?
Chas Alecxih:
I am always 100% effort. I never take a play off.
I think that I am quick off the ball. I use my
hands well. I make plays. I am productive. I am
very durable. I never missed a game or a practice.
Alex
Khvatov:
What
areas of your game do you still need to improve
upon?
Chas Alecxih:
Mainly staying low. I get too high. I am also
working on getting stronger in my upper body.
Alex
Khvatov:
Who is
your favorite NFL player?
Chas Alecxih:
I am a big fan of J.J. Watt. I like to watch him
play.
Alex Khvatov:
Who is the one NFL player that you would compare
your game to?
Chas Alecxih:
Aaron Smith is the
one player that I would compare my game to. He can
do a number of things on the football field.
Alex Khvatov:
Which underclassmen on your team should we keep an
eye on in the future?
Chas Alecxih:
RB Ray Graham, DT
Aaron Donald and CB K’Waun Williams.
Alex Khvatov:
What do you enjoy most about playing football?
Chas Alecxih:
Everything. I
enjoy the violence of the game and I like the
feeling when I make a sack or tackle for a loss.
Alex Khvatov:
What do you like to do away from the football field?
Chas Alecxih:
I like hunting
because I am from the country part. I am a big
movie guy. I love to play video games with my
friends. I like paintball, which is an old hobby of
mine.
Alex
Khvatov:
Who
are the best opposing players that you have faced
during your career?
Chas Alecxih:
WR Michael Floyd was an animal. WR Tavon Austin of
West Virginia and LB Manti Te’o of Notre Dame.
Alex
Khvatov:
What
is the greatest lesson that you have learned in life
so far?
Chas Alecxih:
Honestly even though things might not go your way,
God has a plan for you.
Alex Khvatov:
Finish the sentence, Chaz Alecxih is …
Chas Alecxih:
I am a dedicated player. I am always striving to be
better. I do everything with passion. I try to
work hard. |
