Chansi Stuckey Interview

Wide Receiver - Clemson

By: Chris Horwedel

10/13/06

Chris Horwedel: Hey Chansi, How have you been doing since school ended?
Chansi Stuckey: Since school ended all I have just been lifting weights and building a sense of timing with my quarterback.

Chris Horwedel: What kind of  workout schedule do you have right now?
Chansi Stuckey: Now I am working out five times a week. Monday wed and Friday are weight days and Tuesday and Thursday are skills and drills day on which the team work with there position and do things such as one on ones and 7 on 7.

Chris Horwedel: You're from Georgia, what made Clemson the school for you?  What was your final 3?
Chansi Stuckey: Clemson just felt right. The coaches made me feel really comfortable every time I was on campus and I prayed about it.  My final three were Clemson, FSU and Auburn.

Chris Horwedel: Is there a player you pattern the way you play after?
Chansi Stuckey: STEVE SMITH

Chris Horwedel: You've played wide receiver, running back, special teams, served as a back-up QB, etc...  If you had your choice, which position would you prefer to play?
Chansi Stuckey: Wide receiver. I wish I had made the switch earlier in my career. This will only be my third year playing the position.

Chris Horwedel: How much is the loss of Charlie Whitehurst going to effect the team's offensive strategy?
Chansi Stuckey: I think with the new QB we will open up the offense a little more.  Will Proctor fits the system a little better than Charlie did, plus he has had more time in the system.

Chris Horwedel: Who's your closest friend on the team?
Chansi Stuckey: I just get along with everybody. Our receiving core sticks together a lot.

Chris Horwedel: What's something that would surprise people about Chansi Stuckey?
Chansi Stuckey: I actually played football and basketball my freshmen year at Clemson and I just started liking football my senior year of high school.

Chris Horwedel: If  you could pick a pro team to play for, who would it be?  Why?
Chansi Stuckey: Atlanta or Carolina because they are close to home.

Chris Horwedel: What's the first thing you'd like to do when you get your first pro paycheck?
Chansi Stuckey: Get something for my parents.

Chris Horwedel: Before the snap, what's the first thing you're looking for in the opposing defense?
Chansi Stuckey: The depth of the safeties. the safeties tell everything and usually give tips to what everyone else is doing.

Chris Horwedel: Who is the toughest opposing player you played up  against in your time in college?
Chansi Stuckey: He didn't guard me but probably Shawne Merriman. He was such dominant player at the line of scrimmage.

Chris Horwedel: If you could add any one current college football player to the Clemson roster today, who would it be and why?
Chansi Stuckey: Adrian Peterson because you can never have too many RB's and it would open things of for me a whole lot more to score tds.

Chris Horwedel: What's your current height / weight / 40?
Chansi Stuckey: 5'10 3/4", 188, 4.31

Chris Horwedel: Do you think people overrate the importance of 40 time?
Chansi Stuckey: Yes. I think it depends on who you play against. If you're in the ACC, SEC, Big Ten or somewhere like that it can be judge on the field because of the competition.

Chris Horwedel: Which one quality do you consider your greatest strength?
Chansi Stuckey: Speed.

Chris Horwedel: Which area of your game do you feel needs a bit of work?
Chansi Stuckey: Reading defenses faster.

Chris Horwedel: Which one of your games, more than any other, sticks out in your mind?
Chansi Stuckey: FSU '05

Chris Horwedel: What's the best advice you've been given?  Who gave it?
Chansi Stuckey: Don't try to play better than someone else, just play the best you can. Rob Spence.
