Cameron Sutton – Cornerback – Senior – Tennessee
Alex Khvatov: Tell me about your first day of practice at the Senior Bowl.
Cameron Sutton: It was great. I am out here, doing what I love to do. I have the passion about football like the rest of these players. It is good to be out here. Just coming out here and competing.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to show NFL teams this week?
Cameron Sutton: I want to show my competitive nature and playmaking ability. I can play any position that they want me to play. I am willing and open to do that. I want to show my ball skills. I just want to have fun.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Cameron Sutton: I am training at XPE in Boca Raton, FL. I have been going to them since high school. I am accustomed to it. They have a great facility. They have great people down there.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Cameron Sutton: My impact on the field, but just the type of person that I am off the field. My character and how I conducted myself. It is second to none. I think a lot of people will remember that I am a great person. I made a big impact on a lot of people’s lives.
Alex Khvatov: What is the biggest thing that you took away from the coaches on the first day of practice in Mobile?
Cameron Sutton: Just compete. You don’t have to tell that to a player. It is something that you have inside of you. Have fun, fly around and make plays.
Alex Khvatov: Who is the best WR that you have faced during your career?
Cameron Sutton: The best WR that I have ever faced was Amari Cooper.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths on the field?
Cameron Sutton: My preparation and my IQ. It is second to none. My route recognition and understanding of scheme concepts. My versatility. Whether it is playing defense or special teams. I am not limiting myself to just playing one position.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Cameron Sutton: You can always polish up your game overall. Finishing tackles. It just comes with repetition.
Alex Khvatov: How has Tennessee been able to turn the program around in recent years under Butch Jones?
Cameron Sutton: It is a building process. You have to start somewhere. You have to own up to that process as well. I was a part of Coach Jones’ first recruiting class as a freshman. We went 5-7 the first year. We embraced the idea of turning it around. We worked hard every day. The mentality and work ethic that put forward. We are hoping that the guys will continue to hold that standard and take the team to even bigger heights.
Alex Khvatov: How did you wind up at Tennessee?
Cameron Sutton: I fell in love with the atmosphere. I stepped on campus one time, and it solidified it for me. There was no better place for me. Coach Jones and my position coach kind of solidified and painted a whole overall picture. I knew my position coach from before.
