Alex Khvatov:
What are your measurements
(height, weight and forty time)?
B.W. Webb:
Height is 5’10 ½, weight 182 and I haven’t been
timed in the forty since high school.
Alex Khvatov:
Coming out of high school, what programs showed
interest in you?
B.W. Webb:
William and Mary, Boston College and UVA.
Alex Khvatov:
What made you choose
William & Mary coming out of high school?
B.W. Webb:
At the time, they were the only school that gave
me a full scholarship. It is a great program.
I liked the campus and everything about the
school.
Alex Khvatov:
Describe your junior
season to us.
B.W. Webb:
Last year, it was disappointing to finish with a
5-6 record. We didn’t reach our goal as a
team. We didn’t make the playoffs. It was
upsetting. We could have done a lot better. It
is hard to get used to. Individually, I had a
good year. But I wish that I would have gotten
more interceptions last year.
Alex Khvatov:
What have you learned
about your team after spring practices?
B.W. Webb:
I have learned a lot. We are a tight knit group
this year. We all hang out with each other. We
are a family. It is like brotherhood.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your expectations
for the senior season?
B.W. Webb:
Our team expectations are to win the National
Championship just like every other team in the
country. We need to take it one week at a
time. We need to win every week. We are
looking for a big season out of our offense and
defense. This is the fastest defense that I
have been on. On offense, we have older guys
that are stepping up. RB and QB are looking
good. We will try to stay healthy. Personally,
I just want to perfect my craft. I want to get
a lot of interceptions. I need to stay and
contribute against the run.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your strengths?
B.W. Webb:
I have good ball skills and great leaping
ability. I am fast enough to stay with the
receiver one on one. I have the confidence in
myself. I think that I can win the battle one
on one against anyone.
Alex Khvatov:
What areas of
your game do you need to improve upon?
B.W. Webb:
Probably getting in on more tackles. I need to
stay mentally focused. If I have a bad play, I
need to put it behind me. I need to keep my eye
on the prize and pay attention to detail.
Alex Khvatov:
What is the highlight of
your career up to this point?
B.W. Webb:
I have to go with the UVA game my freshman
year. I stepped up during the game and I will
always remember it. It was my first collegiate
game against the
University of
Virginia. I was really
nervous before the game. I was jittery and
anxious. I ended up with three interceptions
against UVA. I scored a touchdown on one of the
interceptions.
Alex Khvatov:
Which players on your team
are ready for a breakout season?
B.W. Webb:
RB Meltoya Jones, LB Jabrel Mines, Ivan Tagoe
(S), Jerome Couplin (S) and freshman DeAndre
Houston – Carson (CB).
Alex Khvatov:
What do you enjoy most
about college football?
B.W. Webb:
It’s almost like everyone is hungry to make it.
The atmosphere is a lot different. Also a lot
of people watch you play.
Alex Khvatov:
Who is your favorite NFL
player?
B.W. Webb:
My favorite corner is Asante Samuel. But my
favorite player is probably Michael Vick.
Alex Khvatov:
What is your definition of
a leader?
B.W. Webb:
This guy has to walk the walk. He needs to set
a good example for the younger guys. You always
have to do the right thing. Everyone is looking
at you. You need to get the other guys to
follow you. You need to lead by example.
Alex Khvatov:
What are your hobbies?
B.W. Webb:
I love to roller skate. I have been doing it
for awhile. I also recently picked up golf.
Alex Khvatov:
How are you at golf?
B.W. Webb:
I am terrible, but definitely getting better.
Alex Khvatov:
What do you want to do
with your life after football?
B.W. Webb:
If the NFL doesn’t work out, I want to go to
grad school. I would probably want to get into
sports marketing. I also want to start a family
and be a great dad.
Alex Khvatov:
Finish the sentence B.W.
Webb is …
B.W. Webb:
On the field, I am kind of a talker. I love to
talk. I love contact on the field. I
definitely like to have fun on the field.
Off-the-field, I would say that I am goofy,
funny and always smiling.
