By: Alex Khvatov

2/9/10

Alex Khvatov:  What are your measurements (height, weight and forty time)?

Andy Tanner:  My height is 5’11”, weight is 185 and I ran a 4.51 last time.

Alex Khvatov:  What schools showed interest in you during the recruiting process?

Andy Tanner:  Midwestern State and a couple of other teams wanted me to walk-on, but I didn’t want to do that.

Alex Khvatov:  Why did you choose Midwestern State?

Andy Tanner:  When I went down there, I felt very comfortable.  I hung out with the players and the coaches and they were really nice.  I liked the campus.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your strengths on the football field?

Andy Tanner:  Catching the ball.  I can get open and find holes in coverage.

Alex Khvatov:  What areas of your game do you need to improve upon?

Andy Tanner:  Improve on speed, agility and I need to come out of the routes a little better.

Alex Khvatov:  What were your personal and team goals heading into your senior season?

Andy Tanner:  I would say getting the Conference Championship and getting into the playoffs.  Personally, I wanted to do whatever I could to get my team to win.

Alex Khvatov:  You had a breakout senior campaign, what were the keys behind your success?

Andy Tanner:  We had a new offensive coordinator my junior year.  I learned his style and his system.  I felt more comfortable in his system my senior year.  We also had a new QB.  He was my high school QB.  We went back to what we did in high school.  We made plays.  We were on the same page.

Alex Khvatov:  Were you honored to be named LSC South Division’s Receiver of the Year?

Andy Tanner:  It was a great honor.  We had a lot of great receivers in the conference.  I was honored to be recognized.

Alex Khvatov:  What will you miss the most about Midwestern State?

Andy Tanner:  I would say just being around the players and the coaches.  I formed a great relationship with them.  It is like moving away from your family.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the most memorable moment of your college career?

Andy Tanner:  It was this year.  It is not because I had a breakout year, but we had one of the best records in school history.  We earned the first ever Conference Championship at the school.  We were also able to get into the playoffs.

Alex Khvatov:  What is your favorite NFL team?

Andy Tanner:  The Dallas Cowboys.  I grew up in Texas, so I have been watching them for as long as I can remember.

Alex Khvatov:  Who is your favorite NFL player?

Andy Tanner:  Wes Welker.  I would compare myself to him.  He plays the slot.  He is a sure-handed receiver.  The team always looks his way on third down.

Alex Khvatov:  Which underclassman on your team should we keep an eye on in the future?

Andy Tanner:  I would say Zack Eskridge has a chance.  He is a real smart player.  He watches a lot of film.  He makes the right reads.  He has a strong arm.  He transferred from TCU.

Alex Khvatov:  What do you plan to do with your life after football?

Andy Tanner:  I am majoring in accounting.  I want to get my CPA and work for an accounting firm.

Alex Khvatov:  What is the greatest lesson that you have learned in life?

Andy Tanner:  Never give up.  You got to work at whatever is given to you.

Alex Khvatov:  What are your hobbies?

Andy Tanner:  Away from the football field, I hang out with my friends.  I play basketball.  I watch movies and play video games.

Alex Khvatov:  Is the NFL a dream or a reality at this point?

Andy Tanner:  It has always been a dream.  I am working on making it a reality.  I need to keep working out hard.

Alex Khvatov:  How are you preparing for the NFL Draft?

Andy Tanner:  I am working out in the Dallas area.  I am working on speed and agility work.  I go to the weight room.  I catch passes and run routes five days a week.  I have seen improvements.  It is a positive thing.

Alex Khvatov:  Finish the sentence, Andy Tanner is….

Andy Tanner:  On the field, I am a competitor and a hard worker.  Off-the-field, I do the right things.  I am a responsible person.
