PAC 10 QB’s

When you start to analyze the QB’s in the PAC-10 conference for 2010, you realize that it is quite an impressive list.  There are a lot of talented signal callers.  There are QB’s with a ton of potential.  It is going to be fun watching the PAC 10 conference next year specially the QB’s.  I feel that there are going to be a ton of shootouts and a lot of points scored in the PAC 10 conference.

1. Sr QB Jake Locker (Washington) – This guy will take that necessary step forward in 2010 and will most likely wind up as the top pick in 2011 draft.  He has the arm, the mobility and the leadership to take his game up a notch and help Washington win a few more games next season.

2. Redshirt So QB Andrew Luck (Stanford) – This kid was good as a first year starter under the guidance of Jim Harbaugh.  He has the overall package in terms of arm, quick release and intelligence.  He just needs to be a bit more consistent in 2010.  With Toby Gerhart now in the NFL, teams will focus their attention on stopping Luck.  We will see how he deals with the pressure and the high expectations.

3. So Matt Barkley (USC) –  Barkley came to USC with a lot of hype.  He wasn’t expected to start as a true freshman.  But he took the reins and became the starting QB.  Barkley is a young QB, but he has that ‘It’ factor that the great players have.  He proved that in a couple of big games last year.  He has the measurables, and I expect him to continue to improve.  Watch out for Barkley in the 2012 draft.

4. Jr Nick Foles (Arizona) –  Foles is a dropback passer with ideal size.  He transferred from Michigan State, and played pretty well last year.  He is expected to emerge as a leader of this offense in 2010.  I am not a big stat guy, but he completed over 63% of his passses and threw for 19 TD’s.  Foles gets overshadowed by Locker, Luck and Barkley, but he is a  talented player in his own right.  He should be even better in his junior season.

5. Sr Kevin Riley (California)  – I expect Riley to have a breakout senior season.  Jeff Tedford had QB’s in the past that emerged during their senior campaigns (ex: Kyle Boller and Aaron Rodgers).  Riley has the tools to be successful in Tedford’s offense.  He threw for 18 TD’s last year.  He just needs to become more consistent and raise his accuracy percentage.

6. So Kevin Prince (UCLA) - Here is a young QB to keep an eye on.  I believe that Prince will emerge during his sophomore season.  He has a strong arm and displays that QB moxie.  He can make all of the throws.  He is accurate in the short passing game.  He needs to become a better decision maker.  I believe that Neuheisel will help Prince take that next step forward.
