Matthew Dayes – Running Back – Senior – North Carolina State
Alex Khvatov: Tell me about your first day of practice at the Senior Bowl.
Matthew Dayes: It was fun being out there competing with the best college athletes. It was a lot to remember from a playbook standpoint. I personally did okay for the first day.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to show NFL teams this week?
Matthew Dayes: That I can pass protect. I can play whatever position they want me to play. I am really good at catching the ball out of the backfield.
Alex Khvatov: What have you learned from the NFL coaches after the first day of practice?
Matthew Dayes: These guys expect you to know what you have to do. They won’t babysit you like they do in college. It is a big difference for me.
Alex Khvatov: How did you wind up at NC State?
Matthew Dayes: I was deciding between two schools. It was between Vanderbilt and NC State. I felt like NC State was the best choice for me.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Matthew Dayes: My sophomore season. We only won three games the previous year. We won eight games that year. I personally had a pretty good year. It was one of my favorite moments.
Alex Khvatov: Who was the best player that you have ever played against during your career?
Matthew Dayes: The best player was Vic Beasley.
Alex Khvatov: What are your strengths on the field?
Matthew Dayes: Catching the ball. I don’t think any running back in this draft can catch the ball the way I do.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Matthew Dayes: Pass protection. I have improved on that a lot. But I can always work on it.
Alex Khvatov: Where are you currently training for the NFL Draft?
Matthew Dayes: At Pete Bommarito in Miami.
