Rasul Douglas – Cornerback – Senior – West Virginia
Alex Khvatov: Tell me about your first day of practice at the Senior Bowl.
Rasul Douglas: It went great. We are surrounded by NFL coaches. We have good competition from players across the nation. It is a very competitive environment. The intensity was a little high. It was a great day overall.
Alex Khvatov: What have you learned from the NFL coaches after the first day of practice?
Rasul Douglas: Just what he wants to see. He wants to see exactly how things need to be done. He is going to coach us every rep and let us know where we could have done better. He is on us about the little things, so we get better.
Alex Khvatov: What do you want to show NFL teams this week?
Rasul Douglas: I want to show them who I am. Who I am as a person and as a football player.
Alex Khvatov: What is the highlight of your career up to this point?
Rasul Douglas: This season when we won 10 games. We had a great group of guys. We did everything we had to do in order to get a win. We fought.
Alex Khvatov: How did you wind up at West Virginia?
Rasul Douglas: I got recruited by Coach Mitchell. He is coaching at Virginia Tech now. He stayed with me through the whole process. He wanted to help me. He wanted to know about my personal life. We talked a lot. I built a great relationship with him. We still have that relationship until today.
Alex Khvatov: What was the biggest reason for your breakout senior season?
Rasul Douglas: More hard work. I dedicated myself and cut out the distractions. It was my last year. I figured that I would have to find a job. If I had to find a job, I don’t know where I would start. I wanted it a lot. I also wanted to win.
Alex Khvatov: What areas of your game are you trying to improve upon?
Rasul Douglas: I am working on everything. I can improve in every aspect of my game.
Alex Khvatov: What is your biggest strength on the field?
Rasul Douglas: I am a physical ballhawk. If the ball is in my area, I will come down with it.
